FAQ
What is the minimum order size? Can I purchase just one device?
We service businesses, the public sector, nonprofits and similar customers. For pilots and testing, we can sell very small service packages.
We don’t sell individual devices for home use.
How long is the battery life?
The gateway runs on battery power with external batteries for about 1-2 years.
The gateway’s internal battery lasts about a couple weeks, depending on how it is used.
Will the gateway turn off if it's unplugged from external power?
No. The gateway will run for about two weeks off its internal battery if it is unplugged from an external power source.
What countries does the Wireless IOT Gateway work in?
The device works globally, in almost every country. The device has a CE marking. It does not have FCC authorization for use in the United States. Ask for current information from a salesperson if you’re considering installation outside of Finland!
Does the IOT Gateway work indoors?
Yes. Concrete or metal walls or below-ground installation can weaken or block the 4G network signal. If a smartphone data connection works in the planned installation site, the gateway will most likely also be able to form a connection.
A poor outgoing data connection signficantly reduces battery life, so we recommend installing the gateway where it can have the best possible signal.
An external LTE antenna can be connected to the device. This antenna can be adjusted into the position that gives the best signal in challenging installation locations.
Does the IOT Gateway function in winter weather?
The IOT Gateway works in temperatures of up to -30C. We can’t guarantee functionality in temperatures colder than this. The device’s lithium battery gradually loses its ability to accept a charge when it is exposed to cold temperatures for a long period of time.
We recommend preventing snow from getting inside the gateway by installing it underneath a roof or overhang.
Does the IoT Gateway work with RuuviTags purchased from Ruuvi?
Yes, it does! IOT Gateway supports all data collected by RuuviTag.
Please note that if you purchase RuuviTags directly from Ruuvi Innovations Oy, you will not be able to use the additional features for RuuviTag developed by Kaltiot.
Does the IOT Gateway work with RuuviTag Pro?
Yes! RuuviTag Pro uses the same firmware (device-specific software) as a standard RuuviTag. In addition, RuuviTag Pro is also available with Kaltiot firmware.
